Bantham beach is one of the best surfing beaches on the south coast, and is only a 5 minute walk over the sand dunes from the Sloop Inn. Being awarded the 'Rural Clean Beach' flag means that children find it has perfect 'sandcastle' sand, and hours of entertainment can be had at low tide when many rock pools are uncovered. A full-time lifeguard is on duty between May and September.

For those who enjoy an active holiday, the area has much to offer, including 2 golf courses, Thurlestone (1 mile) and Bigbury (7 miles).
